MYZEL
You are a single spore. By the end, you are the planet.
You start on a piece of dead wood, in the dark. One click and a capsule bursts. A thread feels its way blindly through the substrate. It does not know where it is going. It goes anyway.
Keep going and you will be trading minerals with tree roots, raising cathedrals out of chitin, and lying under an entire continent as one unbroken organism. MYCELIUM is an idle clicker about the largest living thing on Earth — and about how quietly it gets there.
The network really grows. Every building you buy sends another glowing filament out into the dark behind the interface. Pulses of light travel along the strands. Spores drift upward. When you finally let it all burst and scatter, the whole thing is wiped clean and starts again from a single point.
Clicking is worth it. Fast clicks build a combo — the meter heats from teal through green and amber to magenta, and the click tone rises with it. Critical hits burst out for seven times the haul, and a rare mega crit for far more. Every so often a spore rain comes down across the screen: sixteen glowing drops to catch one by one before they fall past.
Catch a glowspore and the whole screen turns gold. The mushroom, the counter, the mycelium behind it — everything burns for as long as the rush lasts.
No two buildings are alike. Some sharpen your hand. Some make everything else better. One grows stronger the wider your network spreads. Ant colonies barely get more expensive, so you stack them; the spore archive costs a fortune every time, so you do not. How you reach the end is up to you.
What is in it
- 20 buildings, from a single spore capsule to a nebula drifting between planets
- 133 upgrades, each with its own name and a line of flavour text
- 106 achievements, every one of them a permanent bonus
- Prestige — burst the network, scatter, and grow back faster forever
- Offline progress — it keeps working for up to 8 hours while you are away
- A pocket calculator in the corner, for working out payback times yourself
- English and German, switchable any time, defaulting to your browser language
Runs straight in the browser. Saves automatically. No install, no account, nothing loaded from anywhere else — three files and some arithmetic.
Controls: click the fruiting body, or press Space. That is all there is to it.
Fun fact: the entire game is a 47 KB download — there is not a single image or audio file in it, because the mushroom is drawn with vector paths, the mycelium network is painted live on a canvas, and every sound is generated by your browser on the spot.
